Long before Sawbuck existed, Mike was a kid handing tools to his dad on job sites in Colorado. Working alongside his dad, he learned that wood moves, gaps show, and the quickest way to learn is to make a mistake once and never make it again. It's the kind of education you only get by building.

When Mike moved to Austin 15 years ago, he joined a cabinet shop where he honed his craft before moving into tech startups. There, he saw the efficiency and simplicity technology could bring and what was still missing from the cabinet world.

He wanted to bring that same experience back to building something with his hands.
